I had to tell someone today that I love very deepy, "I am sorry." It was not the kind of "I'm sorry" that you say when you accidently spill something on the carpet but it was pretty serious. I was wrong and I knew it, but it took a little while to admit. Flowers are great. A famous man once wrote, "Forgive! How many will say, “forgive,” and find a sort of absolution in the sound to hate a little longer!" The only absolution for me is to change my carnal, selfish nature that always dominates my life. Thank God for mercy and sweet, sweet grace.

Why is the wanting ALWAYS better than the having? Can't anything hold its value?

On the subject of weddings; A couple of friends are getting married this Saturday. Weddings are always an event. I remember visiting the church in Rhode Island where JFK and Jacky O. got married. I remember waking up in the middle of the night to listen to a live broadcast of the Prince Charles and Lady Diana wedding. Pomp, circumstance, pageantry and a bunch of work.

I am not sure why so much time is spent in preparing for a wedding ceremony that will last maybe 30-40 minutes, while hardly any effort goes into setting up the marriage that is supposed to last a lifetime.

I visited Hollywood one time. On the movie lots, there are streets with elegant houses, intricate woodworking on the outside, freshly painted shutters. The only problem was that if you opened the front door of the home you would be on the other side of a prop, not inside a million dollar mansion. They are all facades. I wonder if in America, we haven't fallen in love with the facade of the romantic ceremony, only to neglect the greater part of "till death do us part"? Just a thought.

My daughter brought a Dr. Seuss book to lunch and graced us with a dramatic reading of "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish," that 20th century classic of life truths. I think Dr. Seuss is pretty profound. For example, Green Eggs and Ham proves that we should not knock something until we have tried it. Today's life lesson from Seussville; Over here, over there, funny things are everywhere. Pretty cool I must say.
