I have been involved in ministry for over 18 years and I am still amazed at God's plan.
It seems that God is most powerful when it is beyond my control, outside of my view and just out of my reach. It is like God says, "Oh good. It is finally out of your reach. This is where I step in." And the truth of the matter is He always does step in just in time.

The abscessed tooth is finally out after a grueling trip to the local oral surgeon. Hey, but I didn't leave empty handed. For $200, they took the tooth, gave me a mouth full of gauze and two prescriptions that will hopefully do the job they are supposed to do...but wait...that's not all....there's more...I walked out feeling like someone had taken a hammer to my jaw... all of this before 10 am...What a deal!

Vacation is over. I hit the ground running today. There is so much to do this week. There is a wedding this (next) weekend, I leave for Uganda one week from tomorrow, and when I return our church is hosting a conference that requires a good deal of preparation. I am spinning plates.

If you have never heard that term, let me explain.

When I was a child, there was a guy that used to go on Johnny Carson's show and he would spin plates. He would put a plate on the end of a stick (that was standing on end) and then he would start spinning the plate on top of the balanced stick. He would not just do one or two plates he would be spinning a dozen plates, all spinning at the same time. He would get one going at just the right speed, and then go on to another one and then eventually come back to the earlier plates to keep them going.

Amazing, I am still not quite sure how he did it, and it truly does lead me to ask; How do you discover a talent like that? It sounds like a mother's nightmare. How many plates do you have to break until your mother starts locking up the china and forces you to use paper plates?

Just wondering...

At any rate, I will keep the plates spinning with the help of the Lord.
